Today, we will explore the elegant city center of Turin on this walking tour that begins in the Piazza Castello. Along the way, we will see the most important buildings in the city, including the Palazzo Madama, the Church of San Lorenzo, the Royal Palace, the Royal Armory, the Cathedral, and the Roman Quadrilateral.

    Piazza Castello

    Piazza Castello
    Located in the Italian city of Turin, Piazza Castello is a square dating back to the 14th century that features beautiful fountains and statues. The center of the square features the Palazzo Madana: the ancient castle from which the square takes its name.

    Palazzo Madama

    This palace in Turin was the first Senate in the Italian Kingdom. There has been a building at this site dating all the way back to the end of the Roman Empire, when it was part of the city's fortifications.

    Church of San Lorenzo

    This Catholic church was constructed in a Baroque style between 1668 and 1687 by Guarino Guarini, considered an innovator of the style. The interior of the cupola is highly regarded for its architectural beauty.

    Royal Palace of Turin

    Built in the 16th centiry and later modernized with Baroque styled architecture in the 17th century, the Royal Palace of Turin is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and historical building. Guests can tour the palace to admire the architectural detail and various art collections within.

    Royal Armoury

    The Royal Armoury of Turin is a museum that houses the world's most significant collections of historic military armour formed in Turin by the Savoy family name. Founded in 1837, the museum offers visitors opportunities to see priceless relics like swords, helmets, revolvers, and more.

    Duomo di Torino

    This cathedral is the major Roman Catholic church in Turin, built in 1505 in a Renaissance Baroque style. Underneath the church is the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, resting place of the Shroud of Turin.
