Day 1 San Francisco - Monterey - Carmel - San Francisco(178 miles)

Today, we will head to picturesque Monterey to visit the Lodge at Pebble Beach, one of the world's most famous golf courses, and take a ride down the 17 Mile Drive. We can also visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium at our own expense. After that, we will travel to nearby Carmel, a small artistic city. Later on, we will drive back to San Francisco.

Monterey was the capital of Alta California under both Spain and Mexico. It was the only port of entry for taxable goods in California. In 1846 the U.S. flag was raised over the Customs House, and California became part of the United States after the ensuing Mexican-American War.
