Day 1 Salvador-Itaparica Island-Salvador(54 km)

Guests will be picked up from their hotels in Salvador to begin this tour. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations. Led by a specialist guide, we will board a schooner - complete with a sound system and bar service - bound for the islands of Baia de Todos os Santos ("All Saints Bay"). Our first stop will be to take a refreshing bath in the warm waters around Ilha dos Frades. Then, we will visit Itaparica, where the beaches feature calm tide pools, great diving spots, horse riding, and countless other fun activities. Over the course of the day, we will be provided with outstanding views of both the Upper and Lower cities of Salvador, as well as the many islands in the bay. Afterwards, we will disembark in Salvador, and guests will be subsequently returned to their hotels to end this tour.

Salvador is the capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia. With 2.9 million people, it is the largest city proper in the Northeast Region and the 4th-largest city proper in the country.

  • Always Visit
The name translates to "Island of the Friars," possibly because of the many churches found on this small island in the Bay of All Saints. It features beautiful beaches typical of Brazil as well as dense tropical vegetation.

The largest island in the Bay of All Saints, Itaparica can be reached via a ferry from Salvador from the east and by car from the west. The two main settlements on the island are Itaparica and Vera Cruz.
