Day 1 Paris-Giverny-Paris(139 km)

Guests will be picked up from the specified departure location in Paris to begin this tour. This afternoon, we will enjoy a visit to Giverny in the French countryside, where we will see Claude Monet's House. On a guided tour of the estate, we will see the famous water lilies that Monet loved to paint. For the rest of the afternoon, we can go shopping or visit the Museum of American Art. Afterwards, we will return to Paris. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations.

A settlement has existed in Giverny since neolithic times and a monument uncovered attests to this fact. Archeological finds have included booties dating from Gallo-Roman times and to the earlier 1st and 2nd centuries AD. The town was known in ancient deeds as "Warnacum". The cultivation of grapes has been an occupation of the inhabitants of Giverny since Merovingian times.

  • Always Visit
For more than 40 years, this house was the home of legendary impressionist painter Claude Monet. After his death, his don donated it to the Academie des Beaux-Arts, who restored it and turned it into a museum.
