Guests should meet at the specified departure point to embark on this tour. Over the course of the day, we will get an eyewitness account of the locations hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina, the worst natural disaster on American soil. We will learn about the historic French District, and why it was built along the Mississippi River. Here, we will see one of the levees that was breached by Katrina and resulted in the displacement of hundreds of thousands of U.S. citizens. See Lakeview, Gentilly, St. Bernard, and the Upper Ninth Ward neighborhoods. On the shores of Lake Pontchartrain visit the New Basin Canal Lighthouse. After visiting the Levee Memorial Gardens, we'll make a brief stop in City Park, where you may visit either the Morning Call Cafe or the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. You'll be amazed at the volume and variety of products "offloaded" in the multimodal port of New Orleans, the second largest port in the country, and then distributed to your hometown.
