This city in Victoria was established as a prospector's town during the Victorian gold rush of the 1800s. As such, it has retained much of its Victorian charm and architecture.
An open-air museum that recreates Ballarat's history as a gold-mining town, Sovereign Hill is a 25-hectare location that has been designed to resemble an old prospector's village from the 1800s.
