Day 1: Matera

Arrival in Matera and check-in at your hotel. Light lunch with tasting of local cheeses and salami from the mountains of Matera. Afternoon visit to the Sassi with its history from the Baroque to the Neolithic period. Dinner at a typical restaurant in the Sassi.

Day 2: Matera

In the morning, visit the bread workshop in an old wood-burning bakery, where the traditional bread from Matera is made. A short walk on the Murgia plateau in search of the archaeological treasures of the Rock Church Park. Lunch on a farm surrounded by golden hills. A walk on the hills and return to Matera. Dinner at leisure and overnight stay.

Day 3: Matera - Venosa - Trivigno (118 km)

Journey to Venosa, an old Roman town where the Latin poet, Horatio was born. Tour of the town and wine tasting in a cellar. Light lunch and journey to Trivigno, accommodation in an agritourism in the mountains (up to 1000 metres in altitude) where you can go for walks surrounded by the green prairies of the Southern Apennine, with a wonderful view of the Lucanian Dolomites. Dinner and overnight stay.

    Venosa was once the thriving Roman colony of Venusia, which owed much of its prosperity to its position on the Appian Way. It was also the birthplace of the poet Horace (65 BC). The main reason to come here is to see the remains of Basilicata's largest monastic complex.
  • Trivigno, ITALY

    A town in the province of Potenza, located in a predominant position, overlooking the valley of Basento.

Day 4: Trivigno - Pietrapertosa - Trivigno (19 km)

After breakfast, transfer to Pietrapertosa and walk in the Lucanian Dolomites. Back to Trivigno in the afternoon for the cookery course with the Bandit Menu, which allows you to discover the traditional tastes of cooking in 1870 Lucania. Have lunch with the Bandits!!! Dinner and overnight stay.

    The mountaintop villages Pietrapertosa (elevation 1088m), ringed by the Lucanian Dolomites is spectacular. Basilicata's highest village, it's often swathed in cloud, making you wonder why anyone would build here – in territory best suited to goats.

    A town in the province of Potenza, located in a predominant position, overlooking the valley of Basento.

Day 5: Trivigno

After breakfast, check out and private transfer to Ancona airport.

Confirmation

  • Changes to Reservations: A fee may be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Name changes or corrections may be treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary will be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply.
  • Cancellation penalties per person
    (Notification day and departure day are not counted)
    45 days or more prior to departure - fully refund
    44-30 days prior to departure - 20% of total purchase amount.
    29-20 days prior to departure - 50% of total purchase amount.
    19-15 days prior to departure - 75% of total purchase amount.
    Within 14 days prior to departure - 100% of total purchase amount.
    Day of departure or no show - 100% per person.
    Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.
    Trips require a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. We reserve the right to cancel a schedule trip to fully refund affected customers although tour companies will make every efforts to maintain the normal operation.
    The refund amount will be credited directly to your TakeTours wallet as credits for future use. Or the refund can also be forwarded directly to your credit card with a 6% handling fee.
  • Prices may vary subject to availability/season/weekend/holiday.
  • We reserve right to cancel a schedule and fully refund affected customers, although we will make every effort to maintain the regular operation.
