Day 1 Madrid-Toledo-Madrid(164 km)

Today, we will discover Toledo, the "City of Three Cultures," located about 70km from Madrid. The whole city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its impeccable beauty and blend of Christian, Jewish and Islamic influences, as well as a mélange of different architectural styles, ranging from Arabian, Gothic, Renaissance and more. Toledo was also home to the legendary painter El Greco. We will go sightseeing through the city's narrow streets, visiting the Cathedral, the Church of St. Tome, the Synagogue of Santa Maria la Blanca, the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes and more.

Toledo is known as the "Imperial City" for having been the main venue of the court of Charles I, and as the "City of the Three Cultures", having been influenced by a historical co-existence of Christians, Muslims and Jews.

One of the prime examples of Spanish-Gothic architecture, Toledo's Cathedral was built as part of a highly concentrated effort to cover up all non-Christian religious buildings and symbols, as Toledo has a large historical population of Jews and Muslims.
