Day 2 Anchorage - Matanuska Glacier (82 miles)

Meet our guide at 8:00AM for the scenic 2-hour drive through the mountains to Matanuska Glacier for an Ice Walk Adventure! On the way we will pass through downtown Anchorage and learn about the history of the city. As we depart from the city, we will pass by Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and the bedroom communities of Eagle River and Chugiak before we pass the Dena'ina village of Eklutna. Crossing the Knik River, we will then enter the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. Then we will make a stop at a grocery store in the charming town of Palmer where we can purchase food and drinks for lunch during the drive.

Upon arrival at the Matanuska Glacier, our guide will instruct us in using ice cleats for secure footing on the ice, and our Ice Walk adventure will be underway. Our guide will transfer us back to Anchorage in a private vehicle, where we will be free to choose dining and entertainment options in this vibrant city.
