Day 1 Edinburgh

From Edinburgh we will head to South Queensferry and the Forth Bridges, giving us the chance to see two of the most remarkable bridges in the world: the Forth Rail Bridge built in 1890, and it's much younger neighbor, the Forth Road Bridge. Crossing the River Forth our first stop is the magnificent Dunfermline Abbey, burial place of King Robert the Bruce. We will have the chance to photograph his ornate gold tomb and wander around the Abbey and grounds. Passing Carnegie Hall, we will travel along the Fife coast and the charming little fishing villages of the "East Neuk", stopping in Anstruther, an old Herring stronghold, where we may take the opportunity to try "the best fish and chips in Scotland" or have a snack at the Fisheries Museum. We will then continue to St. Andrews, home of golf, religion, and, of course, St. Andrews University. We can spend up to two hours in this historic and beautiful setting. In good weather the beach featured in the movie "Chariots of Fire" is particularly popular, as are the 16th Century tunnels under the Castle. Golfers may want to visit the grave of Young Tom Morris, the Golf Museum, the Links Course putting green, or just walk along Grannie Clark's Wynd.
