Day 1 Christchurch - Greymouth - Hokitika - Franz Josef(417 km)

Today, we will take the Atomic Shuttle across the stunning Arthur's Pass to the historic gold mining town of Greymouth, where we will enjoy some free time before returning to the bus. In the afternoon, we will make a stop in Hokitika before heading to Franz Josef.

Once the center of the West Coast Gold Rush, Hokitika is a rural township whose major industries include greenstone and a growing ecotourism economy. On a clear day, visitors can see the stunning views of Mount Cook.

Day 2 Franz Josef Glacier

We will enjoy a free day to explore the mighty Franz Josef Glacier. We will spend time hiking atop the glacier before unwinding in the thermal spa afterwards.

The Franz Josef Glacier is a 12 meter (7.5 mile) long glacier that attracts upwards of 250,000 annual visitors. Guests can enjoy guided 1-2 hour hikes or helicopter tours exploring numerous ice falls, snow frosted mountain peaks, and spectacular views.

Day 3 Franz Josef - Wanaka(286 km)

Early in the morning, we will take a walk to the mirror-like Lake Matheson, stop at Fox Glacier, then travel through the mountainous Haast Pass and Makarora. After passing Lake Hawea, we will arrive in Wanaka in the late afternoon.

The Franz Josef Glacier is a 12 meter (7.5 mile) long glacier that attracts upwards of 250,000 annual visitors. Guests can enjoy guided 1-2 hour hikes or helicopter tours exploring numerous ice falls, snow frosted mountain peaks, and spectacular views.

This morning, we will head out on a scenic bike ride around the lake before we make our way to Wanaka to cruise along the famous A.J. Hackett Bungy Site. Then, we will continue to Queenstown, known as the adventure capital of the world.

Today, we will depart early in the morning to get stunning views as we travel along Doubtful Sound in stunning Fiordland National Park, where we will take a three hour wilderness cruise and learn more about this incredible area.

Established in 1952, the Fiordland National Park is New Zealand's most significant conservation that supports a large and diverse ecosystem of plants and wildlife. Enjoy hiking, bird watching, and more while surrounded by the astounding beauty of this natural paradise.

Day 8 Queenstown - Mount Cook(204 km)

Early in the morning, we will depart from Queenstown and drive over the Lindis Pass through beautiful Mackenzie Country and past Lake Pukaki. Then, we will head north to Mount Cook, New Zealand's highest mountain, arriving in the early afternoon.

Mount Cook, locally known as Aoraki, is the highest mountain in New Zealand measuring 12,218 feet tall. An UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mount Cook is a beautiful, diverse location like no other. Enjoy exploring peaks, valleys, lakes, forests, and more.

Day 9 Mount Cook - Lake Tekapo - Christchurch(275 km)

Today, we will make our way through a landscape made famous by the Lord of the Rings. We will take a stroll around Lake Tekapo, where we can go ice-skating, snow tubing or swimming in the hot springs. Later in the afternoon, we will arrive in Christchurch, taking some time to explore the city.

Located near the Mackenzie Basin, the Lake Tekapo Township is a small community surrounded mountain ranges, lakes and natural beauty. It is also home to Mount John University Observatory, the Church of the Good Shepherd, Waitaki Dam, and more.

Day 10 Free day in Christchurch

We will enjoy the day free to explore Christchurch at our own leisure. There are some great places to visit, including the Re:Start Mall, the Quake City Exhibition, the Canterbury Museum and the Botanical Gardens. Anyone catching a flight today will be dropped off at the airport in the morning.

The largest city on the South Island of New Zealand, Christchurch is an urban center in the Canterbury region. Nicknamed the Garden City, Christchurch is known for its Anglican cathedral, arts, museums, and as being a gateway for Antarctic expeditions.

Booking changes
A fee may be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Name changes or corrections may be treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary may be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply. Please be noted that we do not allow departure change 48 hours before departure.

Cancellations and Cancellation Fees
Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed and pending bookings. Therefore, cancellation penalties and or fees will apply. Time of cancellation will be determined when notice is received and confirmed by our office. Notice of cancellation must be made directly to TakeTours by email or through web mail at Contact Us .

If such improvements can be made, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary - we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitute hotels. At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order in which case hotels may vary from those stated on the itinerary pages.

Tour Cancellation:
We reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control. If cancellation is made any time prior to departure* of the tour, TakeTours' only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the tour booking. We will try to re-book the same or similar tour.. Please note that we are not liable for any cancellation penalties incurred on any other travel arrangements including air tickets purchased separately from customers.
