Day 1: Beijing

Upon your arrival at Beijing airport or train station, the driver will wait for you at the exit of arrival hall or train station by holding a sign with your name and then transfer you to downtown hotel to check in. We can enjoy our free time for the rest of the day.

Day 2: Beijing

Today we will meet our guide and driver in the morning, then we will be escorted to the Tiananmen Square. Next we will go to visit the Forbidden City. After lunch, we will go to the Temple of Heaven. Then we will continue to go to visit the Summer Palace. Today we will also stop by the Chinese Herb Medicine Market to learn about traditional Chinese pharmacy and meet many kinds of herb medicine. Then we will go to the Pearl Market to appreciate some nice pearl artworks. Guests will have opportunities to purchase some medicine and pearls if you are interested in that. Afterwards we will be transferred back to hotel.

    Tiananmen Square

    The 4th largest city square in the world, Tiananmen Square is a large, open area, surrounded on all sides by important national buildings: the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, the National Museum of China, and the Great Hall of the People.

    Forbidden City

    For 500 years, the Forbidden City was the palace of the Chinese emperors. It is divided into two sections, the Inner and Outer Courts. The Palace Museum houses many collections of traditional paintings, jade, and ceramics.

    Temple of Heaven

    Temple of Heaven
    This large complex of Daoist buildings was built in the early 15th-century under the rule of the Yongle Emperor. The main structures are the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, the Imperial Vault of Heaven, and the Circular Mound Altar.

    Summer Palace

    The Summer Palace is a complex on the outskirts of Beijing, comprised of multiple palaces, gardens, and lakes. The first palace was built in the 12th century CE under the Jin Dynasty, and many subsequent emperors chose to build additions.

Day 3: Beijing

In the morning, our tour guide will greet at the downtown hotel lobby holding a board with your name, then directly take us to start today's tour. Before heading to the Dingling Tomb, we will stop by Jade Carving Factory to learn about Chinese jade culture and appreciate some exquisite jade artworks. We will have opportunity to purchase some fine products here if you are interested in it. Then we will come to the Dingling Underground Palace. After a Chinese-style lunch, we will head to the Mutianyu Great Wall built in the early Ming Dynasty. If hiking is too much for you, we can choose to take a cable car on own expenses. After that, we will be transferred back to downtown. On the way back to hotel, we will pay a short visit to the Chinese Tea Market to take a tea ceremony and learn about some tradition of tea drinking. You can buy some here if you would like to. Then we will be dropped off at the hotel.

    Mutianyu Great Wall

    Mutianyu Great Wall
    Built in the 6th century CE under the Northern Qi Dynasty, this is one of the oldest sections of the Great Wall of China near Beijing. It is located in a hilly, mountainous area covered in dense forests.

    Mutianyu Great Wall Cable Car

    Mutianyu is the most scenic part of Chinese Great Wall, and 90 percent of it is covered by vegetation. Cable car is a good choice for those who don't want to take too much hiking.

Day 4: Beijing - Xian (905 km)

After picked up from hotel between 7:00am-8:00am, we will go to visit the traditional Hutong, where we will try to take Rick Shaw. Then we will go to the Jingshan Park. After a Chinese style lunch, we will drive to the Yonghe Palace (also called Lama Temple). When finishing the visit here, we will continue to the Panda House in Beijing Zoo to see lovely Chinese treasures. Lastly, we will drive to and make a stop at Bird's Nest and Water Cube for a outside visit and take some pictures. We can stay around 50 minutes to enjoy the outer look of the buildings in which the 2008 Olympics was held. Then we will also pay a visit to the Silk Market to learn about Chinese silk culture and meet some nice silk products. After the whole day tour, we will be transferred to the train station for the overnight train to Xian (Z19/8:40pm-8:31am).

    Hutong

    In Beijing, hutongs are alleys formed by lines of siheyuan, traditional courtyard residences. Since the mid-20th century, a large number of Beijing hutongs were demolished to make way for new roads and buildings. More recently, many hutongs have been designated as protected, in an attempt to preserve this aspect of Chinese cultural history.

    Jingshan Park

    An imperial park covering 23 hectares immediately north of the Forbidden City in the Imperial City area of Beijing. The focal point is the artificial hill Jingshan, literally "Prospect Hill".

    Lama Temple

    This lovely temple in the Dongcheng area of Beijing was built between the 17th and 18th centuries. It is one of the largest temples and monasteries of the Geluk School of Tibetan Buddhism. It was once an imperial palace.

    Beijing Zoo

    Covering an area of 220 acres, the Beijing Zoo's most famous residents are its giant pandas, among them Ling Ling. In total, it houses over 14,500 animals and receives 6 million visitors annually.

    Bird's Nest Stadium

    Built for the 2008 Summer Olympics, the Bird's Nest Stadium continues to be used for major sporting events. It also houses a shopping mall, hotel and restaurants, making it a great destination for sports fans and foodies alike.

    Water Cube

    Built to house the swimming events of the 2008 Summer Olympics, this indoor arena houses massive swimming pools. After the games ended, the building was closed for a short period while part of it was converted to a water park.

Day 5: Xian

In the early morning, we will be picked up at the exit of Xian Train Station and meet our local Xian guide who's holding a name board. Then we will drive to visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda first. Then we will go to Xian Museum where we will find historical relics and learn about the history of this ancient capital city. Later on, we will visit the North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda. In the afternoon, we will head to Xian ancient City Wall. We will have an option to ride a bike on the wall top. Afterwards, we will stop by the Bell Tower and Drum Tower Square and Muslim Quarter, a hub of the Muslim community and the famous snack street in China. After that, we will be transferred back to the hotel in Xian.

    Small Wild Goose Pagoda

    One of two significant pagodas in Xian, this building was originally built at the beginning of the 8th century AD during the Tang Dynasty. It stands at a height of 43 meters tall.

    Xi'an Museum

    This highly modern museum was built between 1983 and 2001, housing over 370,000 items that detail the rich history of the Shaanxi Province of China. It’s appearance takes elements from Tang Dynasty’s architectural style.

    Big Wild Goose Pagoda

    Built in 652 during the Tang Dynasty, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is an ancient Buddhist temple and must-see tourist attraction. Standing 54 meters (177 feet) tall, this sacred building is a beautiful representation of ancient architecture, tradition, and history.

    Fortification of Xi'an

    Also known as the City Wall of Xi'an, this fortification dates back to 194BCE and measures 13.74 kilometers long. Tourists can explore the ancient site, learning about its rich history from a local, knowledgeable guide.

    Bell Tower of Xi'an

    Built in 1384 during the Ming Dynasty, the Bell Tower of Xian is one of the most recognizable structures in the city. Standing at nearly 40 meters tall, the Bell Tower is as legendary as it is beautiful.

    Drum Tower of Xi'an

    The Drum Tower got its name from the huge drum located within the building. In contrast to the Bell Tower, where bell was stricken at dawn, drum was beat at sunset to indicate the end of the day.Erected in 1380 during the early Ming Dynasty, it stands towering above the city center and offers incredible view of Xi'an.

    Muslim Street

    Muslim Street is a historically unique place to wander, shop and eat. All shops and restaurants in the street are operated by Muslims. Culturally fragrant and fantasticstalls inside the narrow alleys sell almost everything you can imagine. Enjoy a taste of Muslim street food, a very tasty and inexpensive gourmet discovery which includes the locals' favorite: Roasted beef, roasted fish, and pancakes.

    Biking on the City Wall

    The bike riding is on the top of Xi'an City Wall. By taking this we can enjoy the amazing view of the entire city area.

Day 6: Xian

After picked up at the hotel lobby, we will drive to visit world-renowned Terracotta Warriors. Before visiting the Terracotta Warriors, we will have a short stop at the Xian Terracotta & Lacquer Furniture Art Factory. Then we will head to visit the Banpo Museum. After that, we will be transferred to Xian train station or airport.

    Terracotta Warrior

  • Booking changes
    A fee may be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Name changes or corrections may be treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary may be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply.
  • Cancellations and Cancellation Fees
    Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed and pending bookings. Therefore, cancellation penalties and or fees will apply. Time of cancellation will be determined when notice is received and confirmed by our office. Notice of cancellation must be made directly to TakeTours by email or through web mail at Contact Us .
  • Cancellation penalties per person policy:

    40 days or more prior to departure - No penalty.
    15-39 days prior to departure - 30% of total purchase amount.
    7-14 days prior to departure - 50% of total purchase amount.
    2-6 days prior to departure - 70% of total purchase amount.
    Within 2 days prior to departure - 100% of total purchase amount.
    Day of departure or no show - 100% per person.
    Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.
    Trips require a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. We reserve the right to cancel a schedule trip to fully refund affected customers although tour companies will make every efforts to maintain the normal operation.
    The refund amount will be credited directly to your TakeTours wallet as credits for future use. Or the refund can also be forwarded directly to your credit card with a 6% handling fee.
    NOTE: We cannot grant any refunds more than 30 days after completion of tour.
  • Itinerary Variations
    We constantly strives to improve tour itineraries and features. If such improvements can be made, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary - we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitute hotels. At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order in which case hotels may vary from those stated on the itinerary pages.
  • Tour Cancellation:
    We reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control. If cancellation is made any time prior to departure* of the tour, TakeTours' only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the tour booking. We will try to re-book the same or similar tour. Please note that we are not liable for any cancellation penalties incurred on any other travel arrangements including air tickets purchased separately from customers.
