Day 1 Rio de Janeiro

Guests will be picked up in the morning from their Rio de Janeiro hotels. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations. Today we will be embarking into Guanabara Bay, the major harbor of Rio de Janeiro and the surrounding area. It is the largest bay in the world in terms of water volume. We will see the surrounding neighborhoods and the bay's many islands, like Governor's Island and Fundao and Snakes Island. In the west we can see Rio, while to the east lies Niteroi. From the Marina da Gloria, we will be treated to panoramic views of the bay and its surrounding cities.

Usually referred to simply as "Rio," this Brazilian coastal city is famous for its annual Carnival celebration. Rio de Janeiro sees millions of tourists every year, more than any other South American city.
