Day 1 Recife-Porto de Galinhas-Recife(101 km)

In the morning, guests will be picked up from their hotels in Recife. We will drive south, past crystal-clear waters of scintillating blue with colored fish among other beautiful marine species and vast coconut groves until we reach beach of Porto de Galinhas, a striking idyllic symbol of natural beauty with the placidity of a genuine fishing village. What was once the 19th century underground slave trade port of Porto de Galinhas has today become one of most appealing Brazilian beach resorts. We can take optional Jangada (traditional fishing raft) tours through the reef pools if the tide is right and buggy trips to the beaches of Pontal de Maracaipe and Muro Alto. Afterwards, we will return to Recife, where guests will be dropped off at their hotels, bringing an end to this tour. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations.

This beach is consistently ranked as the best in the country. The area unfortunately has a dark past as a major hub of the slave trade. Many natural pools form on the beach, very close to the shore.

A jangada is a traditional fishing raft from the northern part of Brazil. The triangular sail allows the operator to sail against the wind. From Porto de Galinhas, you'll sail out to feel what it's like to be a fisherman.
