Departing from
Hobart, we will travel across the
Tasman Bridge into the Coal River Valley on our way to
Richmond, a unique and historic town resplendent with mellow stone cottages, classic Georgian mansions and home to the oldest convict-built road bridge in Australia and the country's oldest operating Catholic church. We can stroll along the picturesque Coal River and browse the local shops and galleries for unique gifts and souvenirs. We should also be sure to sample some local produce from the many cafes and restaurants.
Afterwards, we will continue to Bonorong, where we will have the chance to come in close contact with wild-yet-fragile, often misunderstood Tasmanian Devil. This wildlife sanctuary, run by a team of passionate environmentalists, serves as a breeding ground for these furry friends. We will be amazed at what we learn as we get a close-up encounter and the chance to hand-feed the free-roaming animals. This day will be full of excellent photo opportunities.
