Today, we will go on a sightseeing tour of El Calafate, taking in the sights of the historic old town, including the traditional buildings from the time of the area's first pioneers. This is a great way to learn about the city's history and how it became what it is today. We will see Laguna Nimez, located only a few meters from the coast of Lake Argentino. Here, we will make use of powerful binoculars to enjoy some bird-watching. Then, we will visit the orchards area, where fine fruit like strawberries, cherries, and more are cultivated with great effort. We will learn about the production techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation. We will also pass by Cuevas del Gualichu, an archaeological site about 7 km from the city, where we can view the prints left by the first people to inhabit these lands. Our final stop will be the Mirador of Virgen de la Paz, where we will get a fantastic view of the city below.
